Department stores can be a dangerous thing. One moment you’re out to get a present for your friend, the next you’re checking out jeans look in the fitting room. I’m not a compulsive shopper, anyone can tell you that – sometimes, others have to convince me to get a dress that’s extremely flattering. But if I was window shopping alone (and I know I can’t afford another bag or pair of heels), I’d still get a t-shirt or a dainty necklace. I would tell myself “that I DO need that!” or “It’s a bargain!”. Truth is, I was never quite satisfied with my wardrobe or accessory collection.
I guess this happens a lot since we have now access to a multitude of brands and fashion designers and there are at least 3 collections/year, not to mention about celebrity collabs waiting for us. It’s impossible not to find something you love as soon as you grab your paycheck. I used to keep money aside just for this sort of indulgence but once in a blue moon a strange feeling hits me: I’M ACTUALLY SATISIFIED.
Like now for example – I’m content with the clothes, make-up, accessories I have and everything else leaves me indifferent. It’s bizarre, I know, especially since my summer clothes have been just slightly updated, while 70% are the same from last year. Yet, I don’t feel the need to throw away or buy newer items.
I had always found an excuse to go shopping – I didn’t have enough pairs of jeans or I didn’t have any heel/platform sandals or I didn’t have enough eyeshadows, in enough colors. But now, thankfully, I’ve somehow checked my always-going list; don’t think I’ve spent a fortune of them, either – hence the Best Bargains I keep presenting you.
So, what should I do when my next paycheck arrives? Invest in a summer vacation? Redo some rooms? Go out every night to a fancy restaurant? If you’ve been in this situation, I’d like to hear your opinion!
