What To Wear On A Rainy Day: 3 Fashion Tips

I thought I was getting along with my alarm clock. Until this morning. He made Hell in the house at about 8 am, I woke up 3 hours later. I blame the rain. Fall is starting to pay us some visits and I can’t say I love it. I’m a more “indian summer” type of girl – love auburn leaves, hot chocolate, pumpkin and what-not, but can’t stand rain and cold.
If you have to go to work or meet someone, it’s a bummer. Your normal wardrobe won’t help you. I mean, what shoes can you wear, that won’t leave you soaking wet?! Where to hold that umbrella without carrying a plastic bag with you? How to stop the frizz and avoid a hair explosion?
I don’t have all the answers, but I might have some tips for you, after years of grumpy days and hours of complaining to T and my friends:

  • buy rain boots; yes, they’re usually ugly, bulky and destroy any cute outfit, so invest in a pair you’ll not be ashamed of. My advice? Choose one with a beautiful print or in a neon color that will make the cloudiest day bright again
  • choose one clothing item that’s cheerful and bright from your closet; in the pic above, it’s a yellow cropped turtleneck, appropriate for fall but reminiscing of summer, too
  • go with warm items and smooth textures. For this Friday outfit, I chose a suede cap and a warm scarf, that keeps in line with the floral motive on the boots. You’ll love that cozy feeling!
What do you think – could this magical mix make your rainy days better?
*You have an umbrella, right? I just assumed… 😀
