I love to surprise T. any chance I get. Either with a present, a recorded message as a birthday card or a candle-lit dinner, I make sure he knows how special he is to me.
So, yesterday, I planned on waking up really early to bake some vanilla frosted cupcakes with heart decorations on top. Only, I didn’t feel up to it after an exhausting week and resolved on napping a little bit more.
To my complete shock, I woke up and the house was empty. He was nowhere to be found. Not a message left. Deciding he was probably taking care of something, I went on with my plan and started dressing up to go and get baking ingredients really quick, before he returned.
I was 90% ready, about to put on my boots and coat, when I heard keys in the door. Nooooooo! He was back and would see me all dressed up, no cupcakes baked. Well, I could at least have some fun along the day. After he opened the door, I kept it shut with all my strength so he couldn’t get in (yes, I do silly things all the time:))). He tried again, no luck. I was laughing so hard that I had to stop the charade.
I let him in and guess what: he wanted to make me something special. He slipped out of the house to get snowdrops, pastries and sweets and make my morning lovely. He pouted a little when he saw me up, since he was trying to get in the house quietly and arrange it all nicely before I woke up, like I’d done for him.
In that moment, I felt the luckiest girl in the world. We spent the day eating goodies from Paul, taking a walk in the park, stopping for some salad at a restaurant outside and appreciating life and each other.
How did you celebrate V Day?
