Sometimes, you’re so caught up with designer houses and big brands, you fail to see the beauty back home.
It happened to me recently when I finally gave in and opened a newsletter I didn’t even know where it had come from (usually, that’s a sign for crap I don’t need to read). But I was wrong – I ended up on a site full of Romanian shoes, bags and more. Premium quality and surprising designs from hometown creatives – that’s what I call sweet discovery!
First, I have to give a shout-out to Bianca Georgescu, a girl whose creations I fell in love with. I’d literally buy every single item she sells here but I tried to make a top 4:
What you need to know about her: she spend her apprentice years in Milano and Bucharest before focusing on her own designs, all handmade. Her first collection debuted in 2013, under the name “Qālicheh”, inspired by the Persian culture. Her second one, called “Decadence”, captures the way metal degrades under the influence of corrosion.
Then we have The 5th Element, “a PREMIUM brand dedicated to designing CUSTOM MADE shoes and bags.” I really loved the surprising details they add to otherwise classic stilettos. You can find them here and… the black pumps with snake details below are their creation.
Also, featured above are (from left to right): Cathias Edeline nude stilettos with gold heels, Bianca Georgescu natural, laser-cut leather shoes and Hannami Mauve Nostalgia , a pair with curved lines I completely love.
What do you say – should I feature more Romanian designers on my blog?
