Models and celebrities look stunning at Coachella. They buy outfits especially for this occasion, since cameras will follow them everywhere. Paparazzi will stay far from you, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t look equally good (who knows who you’ll run into there?).
Skip the shops and choose a Coachella-appropriate outfit from your closet – free and simple! Here are some ideas:
(ps: it applies to any outdoor music/film festival with a bohemian vibe you’ll attend this summer)
1. Bare midriff+denim. This sport-casual look works if you don’t want to bother about spilling soda, bending too much or getting sweaty. It’s also models’ favorite look. I’ve found in my closet a pair of denim cut-offs, a neon top that doesn’t clung to the skin, my cactus-printed espadrilles, hippie pink sunglasses and feather earrings. The idea is to give a bohemian vibe with one or two items, so don’t stress too much if you don’t have the maxi, floral dress or romper.
Look for: feathers, quirky glasses, floral accessories for hair, stashes of rings and bracelets, crop tops/knitted bras
2. Suede leather + fringes. The second look you’ll see this week at coachella is western and cowboy-inspired. You’ll usually see the likes of Alessandra Ambrosio and Aimee Song embracing it – what do you do if you don’t have leather vests and cowboy hats?
I styled my outfit starting from my suede leather skirt, purchased last autumn, a fringed t-shirt from Atmosphere with “Howdy there cowboy” message, roman sandals and braided, hippie head band. I was fortunate to have the skirt, yes, but you can replace it with another suede element from your closed – boots, jacket…
Look for: anything with fringes (skirt/ankle boots/top), anything braided (you can even go with a hairstyle that involves just that), embroidered vest/hotpants, lacy dress with strong leather belt.
