If you’re as dumbfounded by this title as I was, then keep reading.
After dozens of nail trends have come and gone, from rainbow to galaxy, ombre to nail stickers and bubbled ones , I thought I’ve seen everything. But there’s no shortage of ideas on Pinterest (especially when you have time to kill). So, beauty companies quickly realized how women loved the mirror stickers seen on runways and came up with nail polishes that give that effect.
The best one I’ve heard of is Born Pretty and I must admit I would give it a go at parties. It comes as a set, with a base coat and varnish, and seems very do-able for people like me who seldom have the patience to apply tiny dots or stripes on a max. of 2cm/nail.
That said, it’s human nature to try and improve something that’s already ridiculously good. Naturally, women gave it a new spin with... sharpies. This gal simply layered tons of base coats, top coats, whatever coats, with black nail polish, nail powder and permanent sharpies:
Ok, so the idea of drying your gel manicure with a LED flashlight is pretty ingenious and using nail mirror powder instead of a varnish seems cool too and looks the part. But why ruin everything with something third graders do?! Why color your nails with markers and then apply watercolors?!
To me, it seems excessive and damaging to your nails. Ok, so you’re not coloring directly on the clean nail but in the end it’s the same thing as with make-up. Why run away from a cakey face, full of product and do this to your nails? Why protect one and not the other?
